Rachel is currently a local small business owner and female disabled combat veteran who loves to serve those around her. Although the titles sound fun, what’s more important is the life experience that comes along with it. Rachel was born and raised by a single mom in Wisconsin and, with not a lot of options, looked to serving her country to save others while removing herself from a life not quite fitting for someone with big dreams. She went on to serve as an Engineering Aide in the United States Navy Seabee’s from 2007 to 2015. During her service she traveled to Bahrain as base support, Djibouti for humanitarian missions, and two tours to Afghanistan. As a mother of two children, dogs, cats, horses and even fish Rachel strives to set the example for servant leadership, free enterprise, and patriotism. She loves personal growth books, great conversations, and anything with good people. Currently a member of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, and Board member for the Rutherford County Veterans Community Center don’t hesitate to reach out and connect with Rachel for any reason. Her love of people and great problem solving makes her an asset to our community.

As a Marine Corps veteran of over 10 years and relocating and moving more times than I can count, I know all too well how overwhelming the whole process can be — whether moving locally, cross-country, or from state-to-state.
My family moved to the Nashville area in 2004 from Indiana after I had left for college. After finishing my freshman year, I enlisted in the Marine Corps. I came back to my new home on leave to visit my parents and 7 younger siblings (who still double as my best friends) whenever I could, and fell in love with the Middle Tennessee area, not knowing I would move here 13 years later.
After finishing my Bachelors degree in Communication at North Carolina State in 2009, I then served as a Logistics Officer, meeting my now-husband, John, in Afghanistan in 2012. Before completing my active duty service in 2016, I attended graduate school at Purdue University while accepting a role as an Operations Manager at Amazon, managing four departments containing over 300 hourly and salaried employees.
Working in what I thought would be my dream job, I felt unfulfilled and unmotivated working over 80 hours per week making Jeff Bezos richer. I left Amazon after almost a year, finished my Master of Science in Communication, and moved to Murfreesboro, where my husband John and I launched our logistics business and started a family.
After two years, we had two little boys. We realized that in order for our business to be scalable and sufficiently profitable, the amount of travel required didn’t align with what we wanted for our family. After working from home and taking care of the boys for two additional years, John landed a role managing Logistics for FedEx. Shortly after that, I began my real estate career.
We have loved raising our now 3- and 4-year-old boys here in Murfreesboro (though we just built a house just south of Murfreesboro, in Christiana, we still claim Murfreesboro!) and we look forward to many happy years here, teaching our boys to care for our community as they grow here just as we have.
